AQUIT is an ocean biotech startup. I visited them yesterday at the Innovation Park in Buenos Aires and met with the CEO, Daniela Allerbon.

Daniela and her team have developed a technology to farm fish without antibiotics, replacing them with a protein that is naturally produced by the fish themselves.

They've started with salmon, already have an MVP for shrimp, and are now building an AI platform to transfer the technology to other forms of aquaculture and even land-based animal farming.

This is important because antibiotic overuse in farming is among the reasons why we're seeing the rise of antibiotic-resistant bacteria – one of the biggest threats to modern medicine.

What really impressed me about Daniela's approach is that she's not only focused on the technology and the positive impact. She's also extremely tuned into her customers. She's been shadowing fish farmers, from farm managers to vets, to understand what keeps them up at night, what would make their lives easier, and how they can adopt this kind of innovation without hurting their yield or business model.

The full interview with Daniela will come out soon on The Ocean Age podcast.
